The philosophy at Main Street Preschool is to nurture each child spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally, and developmentally. All children have their own rate and pattern of growth. Our hope is to help them develop habits and share experiences that will provide the best foundation possible for their future development. We therefore strive to provide quality learning in a happy and relaxed environment. As a Christian program, we seek to foster awareness of God’s love for us and emphasize our children’s special place in God’s world.
Students at Main Street Preschool students receive developmentally appropriate academic instruction and faith-based teaching through music, movement, and bible story readings. Ms. Kathy, our librarian and music teacher, will incorporate these faith-filled activities into her weekly lessons with the students. Because it is our mission to instill in children a love of learning, promoting literacy is a priority. Students receive library time and children are allowed to “check out” a book from our library on a weekly basis.
In-House Field Trips help enrich our instruction. Thematic, seasonal and holiday centered activities span from visits with Santa and a Reptile Wrangler to Farm Day, puppetry arts, science workshops and celebrations highlighting our diverse cultural identity as a school.
Many teachers incorporate a daily art activity with the children to enhance fine motor skills and weather permitting, the children go out to our playgrounds for some gross motor skills and free play.
Our preschool and kindergarten classes follow state-recommended, age appropriate guidelines and curriculum goals. Each child’s individual progress is tracked throughout the school year and regularly communicated to parents. To view or discuss the class specific curriculum guidelines and goals, please contact our office via phone or schedule a tour. Please call 770.938.1637 ext. 230 or email
