Parent Update -April 1, 2020

April 1, 2020 Dear Main Street Preschool Parents,             When we began the school year, I had many ideas and much vision about what we would do together as a school in the 2019-2020 school year – but in my wildest dreams I could not have anticipated what we are currently enduring. Our MSP Board of Directors met yesterday afternoon via video conference to work through ideas and strategies to see us through the months of April and May. This purpose of this letter is to share those conclusions. If these decisions are unclear to you in any way, please do not hesitate to reach out for more information. · SCHOOL CALENDAR: Due to the current projection of infection due to COVID-19, we are suspending school for the remainder of the school year. At this point we could possibly forecast a mid to late May start, but even this seems unlikely according to some sources. Out of an abundance of caution, we felt it more appropriate to suspend classes for the remainder of the school year. · DIGITAL LEARNING: Digital learning options through Facebook Live!, YouTube, and Zoom Circle Time twice weekly will still continue through the end of May. Our teachers will continue to communicate with their students and provide instructional support to parents and families. Teachers will also be conducting our Parent Teacher Conferences via phone or web conference. · TUITION RATES: Because we have made a commitment to our teachers through the month of May, we feel led to keep that promise to continue their payroll schedule. However, as a non-profit organization we are completely dependent on tuition to provide these funds. We are asking parents and families to give as they feel they are able to give towards the services we are continuing to provide for our students. Your gifts will go directly toward teachers’ salaries during this time of need. · GRADUATION: When the quarantine is lifted, we will hold an event celebrating our MSP graduates of 2020. I anticipate this will be a very special moment indeed in the life of our community as we are finally able to reunite and draw together in celebration of God’s provision. · SUMMER ARTS CAMP: It is still our goal to offer our Summer Arts Camp during the last full week of July. Look soon for registration information coming your way. Leading through this pandemic has been one of the most challenging things I have ever done. In every way possible, your children have been what has kept me moving forward. It continues to be my honor to partner with you in your child’s education. I believe we will look back on this as a time that ironically brought us all closer together as a community and reinforced the idea that all belong at Main Street Preschool. God’s Peace be with You, Vangie
