Parent Update - April 17, 2020
There is so much I wish I could tell all of you right now! I wish I could tell you that this will be over sooner than later. I wish I could tell you that we will all be celebrating together in the near future. I wish I could call you to bring your kids up to the school so I could hug each of them - but I can’t do those things.
Administrating during this crisis has been a very frustrating thing, but like most of us, I’ve learned a lot about myself. One of the biggest lessons I will take away is that I am capable of learning new things quickly. Another is that it really is “all about the kids.” That is why we have developed the kind of digital learning platforms that we have at MSP. We have no expectation that every family is going to need or want to utilize each one of these offerings. We just tried to offer a variety of ways that we could accomplish two main goals.
The first goal is to stay connected to our MSP families. We have said all year long that we are a close-knit community. We are a school made for those who like it when we know your car as you pull up in the carpool (or question you if you are driving a different one). We are a community for people who value getting random texts and photos of their kids from the teaching staff. And we are the school for people whose biggest joy is running into each other at WalMart on a grocery run. We just like each other and love being a part of one another’s life. We hope the opportunities to watch us on Facebook Live! daily or join twice weekly Zoom Circle Time meetings are helping you feel connected.
Our second goal is to continue to partner with you in your child’s education despite our school closure due to COVID-19. We know many of you are working from home yourselves and may be limited on time to research activities for enrichment. Our weekly Blog Lessons and Pinterest page can hopefully serve as a shortcut of sorts. We also realize that creative juices may dry up after a week or two in quarantine, so our Daily Challenge Videos and Read Alouds try to provide a little variety in the daily routine.
Speaking of your child’s education - we’re full steam ahead for Fall 2020!! Be on the lookout for promotional blogs to release each week with accompanying videos to our social media. Do us a favor and SHARE these to friends, neighbors and anyone you think might need the kind of community we offer at Main Street Preschool. You are our very best advertisement.
I pray that we will be together again soon. As soon as I know we can be, you can rest assured that plans will get underway for a party the likes of which Main Street has never seen! Please stay in touch. As always, feel free to contact me personally with any questions or concerns at email@example.com.
