Parent Update - March 27, 2020

Another week has passed with more information to process regarding the COVID-19 virus outbreak. As of the writing of this update, Governor Kemp has signed an executive order mandating that all Georgia schools remain closed through April 24th, with our target for going back to school as April 27th.

We have a meeting of the Board of Main Street Preschool scheduled soon to discuss options moving forward for the school. These options include possible scheduling choices based on continued quarantine restrictions, as well as financial choices we must soon make. It probably goes without saying, but as a non-profit organization we are completely dependent on tuition to fund our institution.

While our primary concern will always be for the health and safety of our MSP community, we also share a burden for our teaching staff their payroll needs during this critical time. Please be in prayer for me and the school board as we navigate this unprecedented time of decision making. As soon as we make a decision, you will be informed with haste.

I can say these things with confidence:

  • We are working to provide resources to your family during this stressful time. We will continue our Facebook Live! At 10am weekdays. Our YouTube channel will continue to add videos of book readings, mini-lessons, music time, and chapels - all with challenges to get your children inspired to do and learn at home.

  • If you have any interest in your child joining in on a Virtual Circle Time via a Zoom meeting, please let me know. We are investigating the viability of adding this to our weekly schedule of activities.

  • We are adding daily to our Pinterest page with educational, social and emotional resources for your family. We hope these can save you some time and energy, also providing you with last minute ideas for restless kiddos.

  • I am available via text and phone at 770-314-5775. You can also email me at This comes directly to my phone allowing me to answer you quickly and efficiently.

  • Teachers are still communicating with families via text, phone or email weekly moving forward. We pray you continue to see us as a support and resource for your child’s day-to-day education.

I’d like to close by saying that we are truly all #inthistogether. It is a great encouragement to me, our school board, and our staff to see your interactions across our social media platforms. Please remain connected with us so that we can continue to serve you in any way possible. We miss you and love you all.

God Peace,
